Not only is the department responsible for managing over 18,000 kilometers of provincial highways, it also manages the planning, design and construction of hospitals, schools and other government buildings.What you will doReporting to the Highway Striping Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:safe and efficient operation, maintenance and general up-keep of a paint truck, including all associated paint and bead equipment used in the application of highway markings as per NBDTI guidelines;assisting with various pavement marking tasks;performing normal maintenance and minor repairs on assigned equipment;preparing and maintaining work records on the operation of assigned equipment.Work environment:Work location: Supply Depot, 122 Currie Avenue, Fredericton. Primary reporting offices are located in Fredericton and Miramichi, typically travelling throughout the province away from the reporting offices the majority of the striping season.Standard hours of work: Monday ? Friday. typically with extended hours throughout the majority of the striping season.Extensive travel throughout the province on a regular basis.Working extended hours on a regular basis.Possibility of a condensed work week.Work occasionally on holidays, weekends, shift and/or variable hours.May work in adverse road and weather conditions.We promote a scent-reduced environment.Who you areKey behavioural competencies:Analytical Thinking/JudgmentClient Service OrientationEffective Interactive CommunicationResults OrientationTeamwork and CooperationEssential Qualifications:Completion of grade ten (10).A minimum of three (3) years experience in the operation of heavy construction equipment.Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.Valid Class 3 driver's license with endorsement for air brakes as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.Written and spoken competence in English is required.
