Remingtons of Niagara looking for a skilled and passionate *Grill Chef* to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive kitchen experience, and a passion for delivering exceptional food and service. As a key member of our team, the Grill Chef will assist the Chef and team with all aspects of the kitchen ensuring quality preparation of all menu items and proper handling/storage of all food items in accordance with standards. The ideal candidate thrives in a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen environment, possesses exceptional knife skills, and maintains a clean, organized workstation under pressure. *Core Responsibilities* * *Execute Grill Orders:* Cook steaks, poultry, seafood, and vegetables over open flames or flat-tops to exact temperature specifications. * *Prep and Season:* Trim, portion, marinate, and season proteins according to recipes and portion control standards. Check par levels for shift, determine necessary preparation, freezer pulls and line set up. Note any out of stock items or possible shortages. * *Station Management:* Set up, stock, and break down the grill station daily; ensure all backup ingredients are prepped and ready for service. * *Food Safety Compliance:* Maintain strict food hygiene, minimize cross-contamination, monitor holding temperatures, and follow FIFO stock rotation. To assist with cleaning duties in order to maintain a clean and well-organized work area. * *Kitchen Teamwork:* Coordinate closely with the Line Cooks, Expeditor, and Chef to ensure all table orders are completed simultaneously. To work and communicate in a professional and ethical manner assisting where necessary to achieve required standards required. Work with the front of the house to ensure guest satisfaction and exceeding guest expectations. * *Equipment Maintenance:* Clean, degrease, and scrape grills throughout the shift; report any mechanical or safety issues immediately to management. * *Opening/Closing:* Carry out opening and closing duties applicable to the position and be competent in the completion of all duties within the shift. Assist with kitchen wash up duties as delegated to maintain the smooth and efficient operation. *Required Skills, Qualifications and Abilities* Must have the ability to communicate in English. Self-starting personality with an even disposition. Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times. Must be willing to ?pitch-in? and help co- workers with their job duties and be a team player. Finger/hand dexterity in order to operate food machinery. Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry, or otherwise, move goods weighing a maximum of 50lbs. on a continuous schedule. * *Proven Experience:* Minimum 2 years of experience operating a commercial grill in a high-volume restaurant or steakhouse. * *Culinary Knowledge:* Thorough understanding of meat cuts, cooking temperatures (rare to well-done), and resting times. * *Physical Stamina:* Ability to stand for extended periods (8+ hours), lift up to 40 lbs, and work efficiently in a hot kitchen environment. * *Certifications:* Valid *Food Handler Certification* is required. * *Schedule Flexibility:* Availability to work busy shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
