You?ll be welcomed into our communities and soon love living ?on Island time?. www.exploremanitoulin.com *Your Benefits: * * Starting wage: $36.84-50.24 per hour based on experience * Earn premium pay: $2.25/hour evenings, $2.88/hour nights, $3.04/hour weekends * Overtime paid at 1.5x your regular hourly rate * Call-back premium with a minimum 4 hours paid at 2x your regular rate * Comprehensive health and dental benefits * Pension plan participation through the Hospital Pension Plan * 12 paid holidays annually, including two floating holidays * Vacation as per the OPSEU collective agreement * Employer-supported disability coverage (HOODIP/LTD) * Paid bereavement leave and family-related leaves * Pregnancy and parental leave top-up benefits *Responsibilities:* * Apply the principles of medical laboratory sciences basing practice on current techniques and scientific knowledge * Analyze QC data for the purposes of quality control and verification of test results; implements corrective action when required * Perform accurate, precise and verifiable tests and the timely reporting of results which will provide reliable and timely information for the Clinician * Perform IQMH and other proficiency testing specimens and report results in a timely manner * Perform the full range of tests and procedures related to the assigned section and/or site * Recognize, troubleshoot and communicate equipment/reagent related malfunctions and initiate appropriate remedial action in a timely manner * Monitor inventory and inform Lab Manager when re-orders are required * Assist in the review and updating of policies and procedures * Apply the Standards of Practice for Medical Laboratory Technologists as outlined by the CMLTO * Assist in the orientation, training and in-servicing of staff and student * Participate in studies and projects as required * Attend meetings, seminars and lectures as required * Perform other duties as required by the Laboratory Medical Director or Lab Manager *Patient Safety:* It is recognized that the processes employed by this staff position impact upon the safety and efficacy of MHC?s patient care activities. All incumbents are directed to therefore utilize processes that contribute to the overall safe culture environment of our hospital. This is a direct responsibility of each and every staff member of this organization.
