Our work involves making strategic investments, leveraging new funding, and building on critical partnerships to help further position ourselves to meet current and future housing challenges.About Our OpportunityAs the Community Housing Financial Officer, you will support the delivery of community housing programs that help Nova Scotians access safe, suitable, and affordable housing.This role is a mix of financial review, program administration, file management, compliance monitoring, and partner support. You will assess applications, support funding recommendations, administer program funds, and help ensure approved projects meet program requirements from start to finish.You will also support the administration of the legacy Social Housing Agreement, including operating subsidy calculations, social housing inspections, and compliance monitoring.This work is well suited to someone who is organized, analytical, detail-focused, and comfortable working with financial information, program requirements, deadlines, and housing partners.Primary AccountabilitiesAssess applications and support funding decisionsYou will review applications for housing programs and assess eligibility against program requirements. This includes supporting recommendations related to grants, loans, or mortgages.Administer community housing programsYou will assist with the administration of community housing programs, including the disbursement of program funds and case management through the Integrated Case Management system.Manage approved project filesYou will manage approved project files through implementation and close-out. This includes tracking milestones, reviewing payment documentation, processing disbursements, monitoring compliance, supporting reporting requirements, and following up with funding recipients to make sure program requirements are met.Support compliance and the Social Housing AgreementYou will help administer the legacy Social Housing Agreement by calculating operating subsidies, supporting inspections of social housing units, and monitoring compliance with applicable requirements.Help resolve project issuesYou will assist in identifying projects that require specialized support or intervention and help coordinate appropriate follow-up.Work with partners and prepare written materialsYou will respond to inquiries from regional staff, housing organizations, and partners, and help address project-related concerns. You will also assist in preparing documents such as Ministerial replies, briefing notes, information notes, reports, and correspondence.You may also complete other related duties as assigned.Qualifications and ExperienceYou have completed a bachelor's degree in a related discipline and have at least one year of related experience in finance, policy, program delivery, housing, community development, public administration, or a related field. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.To be successful in this role, you bring:Experience reviewing, assessing, or administering program files, applications, agreements, payments, or funding requests.Strong analytical skills, including the ability to review financial information, assess eligibility, identify risks, and support sound recommendations.Strong org- Location Halifax, NS
