Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Outdoors. Noisy. Dusty. Work setting: Construction site. Tasks: Load, unload and transport construction materials. Perform pre-operational inspection. Read blueprints to determine work requirements . Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks shoring and barricades. Operate pile driving cranes to drive pilings into earth to provide support for buildings and other structures. Instruct apprentices. Mix, pour and spread materials such as concrete and asphalt. Assist in framing houses, erecting walls and building roofs. Level earth to fine grade specifications. Pave and rake asphalt. Assist in demolishing buildings. Clean and pile salvaged materials. Perform routine maintenance work. Tend or feed machines or equipment used in construction. Direct traffic at or near construction sites. Equipment and machinery experience: Concrete saws. Jackhammers. Forklift. Hand tools. Construction specialization: Residential. Sidewalks and curbs. Water mains. Poured concrete. Roofing.
