Business Architecture provides a shared understanding of what the business does, how it delivers value, and what must change to support strategic priorities. As a Business Architect, you own and apply Business Architecture practices that enable clear, consistent, and informed decisions across strategic decision-making, investment planning, and delivery execution. The Role As a Business Architect, you are responsible for owning and evolving the enterprise Business Architecture, aligned to industry standards such as BIZBOK and/or TOGAF Business Architecture. You act as the steward of the Business Capability Model and related architectural views, ensuring they are clear, consistent, and actively used. You partner closely with Strategy, Enterprise Architecture, Portfolio, and Delivery teams to provide capability-based insights that inform planning, prioritization, and change decisions. You provide the architectural foundation that enables consistent planning and execution of change through a shared, enterprise-level understanding of business capabilities, value streams, and impacts. Key Responsibilities Own and maintain the enterprise Business Capability Model as the authoritative, governed view of the businessDefine and maintain business value streams, outcomes, and capability relationships to describe how value is deliveredApply and uphold Business Architecture standards and practices aligned to BIZBOK and/or TOGAF Business ArchitectureProvide business capability insights and impact analysis used to support enterprise investment and governance decisionsDefine capability target states, evolution, and transition views, identifying dependencies, sequencing logic, and organizational readinessConduct capability maturity and gap assessments to identify improvement opportunities, structural risks, and cross-domain dependenciesIdentify business capability redundancies and fragmentation, providing business-driven insight to inform application and technology consolidation and optimization decisionsFacilitate cross-functional workshops focused on capability impact, structural alignment, and transformation feasibilitySupport architecture and portfolio governance by ensuring initiatives demonstrate alignment with agreed business capabilities and target statesCollaborate with Enterprise, solution, and technology architects to ensure ongoing alignment between business architecture and technology designCoach and guide team members in Business Architecture concepts, standards, and best practices What Success Looks Like The Business Capability Model is clear, trusted, and actively used across the organizationStrategy and investment discussions routinely reference capabilities and value streamsInitiatives entering delivery show clear alignment with Business ArchitectureLeaders have a shared understanding of business change impacts and dependenciesCapability-level insight enables informed consolidation and optimization decisions across applications and technologiesBusiness Architecture is recognized as a practical, decision-support discipline Core Skills & Competencies Strong Business Architecture expertise, including business capability modeling, value stream and outcome mapping, and capability maturity assessmentHands-on experience applying BIZBOK and/or TOGAF Business Architecture conceptsEnterprise-level analytical and systems-thinking skillsCapability-based transformation and evolution planningClear, confident writ- Location Saint John, NB
