FlowLabs is looking for a full-time Laboratory Technologist to join our Andrology Laboratory in Ottawa, Ontario. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this individual will be responsible for: Ensuring sample identification is correct and specimen requirements are met according to established procedures. Accessioning specimens into the Laboratory Information System. Labelling specimen containers and requisitions Ensuring transportation to the laboratory following established protocols for the handling of suitable and unsuitable samples Coordinating the shipment, receiving and logging of specimens, slides and reports Performing technical procedures including but not limited to semen analysis and anti-sperm antibody assessment. Sorting, filing and retrieving reports and slides Completing quality control checks and routine maintenance in accordance with laboratory requirements Ensuring quality control standards are maintained Performing routine maintenance on laboratory equipment Ensuring patient confidentiality and accuracy of documentation Ensuring all confidential information is maintained in a secure fashion Qualifications: Must be a graduate of a recognized program for Medical Laboratory Technology Must be registered and a member in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (C.M.L.T.O) Experience with and demonstrated understanding of quality assurance and good laboratory practice Excellent communication skills to enable you to relate to a wide variety of people Excellent team member assisting others as appropriate Excellent basic computer skills Ability to work within established guidelines Demonstrated ability to work independently Effective analytical and problem solving skills, high level of initiative and, organizational skills Evidence of participation in continuing education Comfortable using Microsoft Office and other computer software applications If you are interested in joining our team of professionals, we encourage you to submit your cover letter and resume by May 8th.
