This is supervisory, administrative support and moderately complex clerical work coordinating the clerical operations of the Steno section of the R.C.M.P. Detachment. The incumbent plans, assigns, reviews and supervises the work of a moderate sized group of subordinates engaged in clerical-typing and customer service duties; prepares and maintains a variety of complex records, reports and correspondence; reviews, develops and implements improved office methods, systems and procedures; establishes and maintains a variety of internal and external contacts. The incumbent exercises considerable independence of judgement and action within established rules, regulations and policies, referring unusual or policy matters to a supervisor who reviews work performance in terms of conformance to established policies and procedures and effectiveness of services rendered. Performs related work as required.Qualifications include the completion of Grade 12 including or supplemented by courses related to the work plus considerable related office administration and clerical experience, preferably in an R.C.M.P. detachment; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of applicable R.C.M.P. Detachment and Corporation rules, regulations, policies and procedures applicable to the work; of the methods, practices and procedures used in operating various software applications related to the work performed, such as PRIME, Justin, and Microsoft Word. Ability to plan, assign, review, train and supervise the work of subordinates and to conduct performance evaluations of same; to coordinate clerical support services ensuring deadlines and policies and procedures are met; to prepare and maintain a variety of reports; review, develop, and implement upon approval improved office methods, systems and procedures.
