Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Hog and pig farming. Livestock. Work setting: Rural area. Tasks: Develop and guide the behaviour of farm animals. Direct farm grooming activities . Handling animals. Manage feed inventory activities . Monitoring animal health. Raise and breed livestock and poultry. Maintain farm machinery, equipment and buildings. Manage overall operation of farm. Purchase machinery, livestock, seed, feed and other supplies. Determine the amount and kinds of crops to be grown and livestock to be raised. Recruit, hire and supervise staff and/or volunteers. Maintain quality control and production records. Co-ordinate and supervise the work of general farm workers and harvesting labourers. Assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures. Supervise and oversee breeding and other livestock-related programs. Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years. Health benefits: Health care plan.
