Job details
Education: Master's degree. Counselling psychology. Clinical/medical social work. Work setting: Clinic. Rural area. Willing to relocate. On-site customer service. Health care institution, facility or clinic. Tasks: Consult with other health care professionals to evaluate treatment plans . Diagnose any behaviour disorders. Examine the behaviour. Interview clients, prepare case histories and assess problems. Record observations. Review reports from health care professionals to determine patients' current and potential functioning levels. Supervise other counsellors, social service staff and assistants. Use standard psychological tests for assessment. Prepare a treatment plan for each patient. Provide education to clients regarding health promotion and injury prevention, management and treatment. Provide therapy. Counsel individuals and groups to achieve more effective personal, social and vocational development and adjustment. Implement treatment plans. Apply psychological theory and principles regarding behaviour and mental processes. Develop and implement counselling and intervention programs to assist clients in determining goals and means of attaining them. Counsel clients, provide therapy and mediation services, and facilitate group sessions. Maintain accurate records. Plan intervention programs. Follow up results of counselling programs and clients' adjustment. Liaise with community agencies or partners, and identify additional or alternative services and provide referrals. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification . Membership with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Provincial or territorial Psychologist's Certificate of Registration. Certification with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. First Aid Certificate. CPR Certificate.
