Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Confined spaces. Hot. Noisy. Odours. Tasks: Check proper thickness of plating using micrometers, callipers or other devices. Clean and maintain equipment. Operate and control: electroplating equipment to coat metal, hot-dip metal plating equipment to galvanize metal and/or spray equipment to build up worn or damaged parts. Paint small items and apply touch-ups using paint brushes. Prepare and apply stencils, decals or other decorative items on finished products. Prepare and mix metallizing solutions according to formulas or specifications. Tend automatic metal coating machines which convey objects through a series of cleaning, rinsing and plating solutions. Tend or operate equipment to spray or coat. Type of product: Aircraft or motor vehicles. Construction materials or coatings. General metal products. Surface preparation methods: Abrasive disc wheel. Abrasive head blasting. Sandblasters. Application methods: Automated spray painting. Hand-held spray guns. Equipment and machinery experience: Automatic metal coating machinery. Callipers.
