The Office includes the Public Prosecution Services Branch.What you will do As a member of the Public Prosecutions team, the successful candidates will handle criminal and quasi-criminal prosecutions in all levels of Court for offences under the Criminal Code of Canada, the Youth Criminal Justice Act, Control Drugs and Substance Act, Cannabis Act and Provincial Statutes. The work involves, but is not limited to, providing advice to law enforcement on investigations, advising on the laying of criminal and quasi-criminal charges, pre-trial preparation including interviewing witnesses and researching points of law and appearing before Provincial Court, the Court of King's Bench and the Court of Appeal of New Brunswick. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following: Need to have Law Degree; completion of Articling; and membership in good standing or eligibility for membership to the Law Society of New Brunswick.Successful candidates will be required to undergo a criminal history clearance and security clearance check. LawyerUp to 8 years of membership in good standing at the barDemonstrates basic knowledge and some criminal trial or litigation experience in court.Senior LawyerMinimum of 8 years of membership in good standing at the barExtensive criminal trial or litigation experience in court is requiredCandidates with less than 8 years of membership in good standing at the bar will be considered as a Lawyer. Candidates with 8 years or more will be considered as a Senior Lawyer. Please state your date of admission to a Canadian Law Society.Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability. Candidates must demonstrate on their applications how they have acquired the education and experience for this position. Your résumé should be in chronological order specifying education and employment in months and years including part-time and full-time employment.Operational RequirementsThe following operational requirements are also required:TravelPossession of a valid class 5 driver's licenseThe incumbent's main office will be in Edmundston; however, they will be covering courts in New Brunswick as required from time to time.
