Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Diagnose diseases and physiological disorders
  • May conduct medical research on human disorders, illnesses, preventive or curative methods
  • Prescribe medication and treatment
  • Refer patients for surgery
  • Prepare research papers for publication and presentation
  • Supervise laboratory activities
  • Act as consultants to other physicians
  • Order laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures
  • Teach one or more university subjects
  • Teach students through lectures, discussions, audio-visual presentations and laboratory, shop and field studies
  • Record and process patient data
  • Perform administrative tasks
  • Perform cardiovascular procedures and tests
  • Grade examinations, term papers and laboratory reports
  • Develop and interpret radiographic film
  • Deliver lectures and presentations
  • Conduct laboratory sessions to supplement lectures
  • Conduct literature reviews, surveys, laboratory experiments and other research for use in academic publications
  • Assess extent of injuries or illness of trauma victims to determine emergency medical treatment
  • Interpret test results
  • Diagnose patients' diseases and disorders
  • Perform routine, emergency and post-mortem examinations
  • Operate X-ray, radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment
  • Monitor patients and advise physician of any changes in patients' condition
