This role leads a team of technical professionals responsible for delivering and enforcing provincial programs related to drinking water, wastewater, aquatic habitat protection, and water rights licensing. This role provides leadership for compliance, inspection, and enforcement activities while supporting the development and implementation of legislation, regulations, standards, guidelines, and emerging water management practices. In this position you will manage complex and high-profile environmental issues, including waterborne disease outbreaks, wastewater incidents, emergency events, and significant compliance matters with potential economic, environmental, and community impacts. You will provide strategic advice to senior leadership, monitor program performance, champion continuous improvement, and anticipate emerging environmental challenges to help shape future policies and programs. You will work among a diverse and passionate team of professionals from various disciplines and contribute to projects that will have an impact province-wide. The successful candidate will have a Degree in Environmental Engineering, Sciences or similar discipline and 8 years of progressively more responsible directly related experience. Must possess or be eligible to obtain Level 2 water treatment and distribution certification and Level 1 wastewater treatment and collection certification. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered; 2 years of related experience is preferred.
