Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Various locations. Tasks: Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints. Clean and prepare surfaces. Cut and install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners. Fill joints, nail indentations, holes and cracks with joint compound using trowel and broad knife. Measure, cut, fit and install drywall sheets. Position and secure sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists. Smooth out excess compound and allow coat to dry. Spray acoustic or texture materials over walls and ceilings. Tape over joints using taping machine and embed tape in compound. Install exterior and interior steel studs. Install metal stud framing and furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings, using hand and power tools. Prepare wall and ceiling layouts. Estimate costs and materials. Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages. Erect and install scaffolding, falsework and other working platforms. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling. Physically demanding. Standing for extended periods. Work under pressure. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs). Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years. Support for newcomers and refugees: Provides diversity and cross-cultural trainings to create a welcoming work environment for newcomers and/or refugees .
