<p><strong>Senior Accountant</strong></p> <p><strong>Location:</strong> Windsor, ON (In Office)<br/> <strong>Job Type:</strong> Full-Time | Permanent</p> <p>Position Overview</p> <p>A well-established construction and real estate development organization is seeking an experienced <strong>Senior Accountant</strong> to join its growing finance team. Reporting to the CFO, the Senior Accountant will play a key role in managing financial reporting, month-end processes, project accounting, and maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records.</p> <p>This position is ideal for a CPA or CPA-designated professional with experience in the construction, real estate, or development industry who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements. </li> <li> Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations. </li> <li> Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts while ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. </li> <li> Assist with project and job cost accounting, including tracking project budgets, costs, and profitability. </li> <li> Prepare and analyze work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and project reporting. </li> <li> Reconcile bank accounts, credit facilities, and intercompany transactions. </li> <li> Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning initiatives. </li> <li> Assist with GST/HST filings and other regulatory reporting requirements. </li> <li> Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions during year-end audits and reviews. </li> <li> Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting efficiencies. </li> <li> Provide financial analysis and reporting to support operational and strategic decision-making. </li> <li> Mentor junior accounting staff and provide guidance on accounting procedures as needed. </li> </ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li> CPA designation required (or actively completing final stages of the CPA program with significant relevant experience). </li> <li> Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. </li> <li> Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience. </li> <li> Previous experience within the construction, real estate development, or property management industry is highly preferred. </li> <li> Strong understanding of project accounting, job costing, and financial reporting. </li> <li> Experience with month-end and year-end close processes. </li> <li> Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. </li> <li> Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as Sage, Jonas, Viewpoint, or similar accounting software is considered an asset. </li> <li> Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. </li> <li> Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally. </li> <li> Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. </li> </ul> <p>Preferred Experience</p> <ul> <li> Construction accounting and job costing. </li> <li> Work-in-progress (WIP) reporting. </li> <li> Capital asset accounting. </li> <li> Budgeting and forecasting. </li> <li> Intercompany accounting and consolidations. </li> <li> Audit preparation and coordination. </li> <li> Process improvement and internal controls. </li> </ul> <p>What You'll Bring</p> <ul> <li> A proactive and hands-on approach to accounting. </li> <li> Strong business acumen and analytical thinking. </li> <li> Ability to prioritize competing deadlines in a dynamic environment. </li> <li> High level of professionalism, integrity, and accountability. </li> <li> A collaborative mindset with a desire to contribute to a growing organization. </li> </ul>- Location Windsor, ON
