<p><strong>Financial Controller</strong></p> <p><strong>Location:</strong> Windsor, ON<br/> <strong>Job Type:</strong> Full-Time | Permanent<br/> <strong>Work Arrangement:</strong> On-site initially, with the opportunity to transition to a hybrid/remote schedule based on performance and business needs.</p> <p><strong><u>Position Overview:</u></strong></p> <p>A well-established construction and real estate development organization is seeking an experienced <strong>Financial Controller</strong> to lead its accounting and financial reporting function. This is a hands-on leadership role suited for an accomplished accounting professional with a strong background in the construction industry.</p> <p>The successful candidate will bring extensive experience with work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, project accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls. They will be a key contributor to the leadership team, providing financial insight, improving processes, and supporting the continued growth of the organization.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and project accounting. </li> <li> Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes. </li> <li> Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and management reporting packages. </li> <li> Manage and maintain <strong>Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting</strong>, ensuring accurate project revenue recognition and cost tracking. </li> <li> Oversee project accounting, job costing, committed costs, and construction reporting. </li> <li> Partner with project managers and operations to monitor project performance, budgets, forecasts, and profitability. </li> <li> Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts and working capital reporting. </li> <li> Prepare annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses. </li> <li> Ensure compliance with ASPE and applicable accounting standards. </li> <li> Coordinate year-end audit activities and liaise with external auditors, financial institutions, and tax advisors. </li> <li> Strengthen internal controls and identify opportunities to improve financial processes and reporting efficiencies. </li> <li> Mentor and support the accounting team while fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment. </li> <li> Provide strategic financial insights to support executive decision-making and business growth. </li> </ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li> CPA designation preferred. </li> <li> Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. </li> <li> Minimum 8?10 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities. </li> <li> Extensive experience within the <strong>construction industry</strong> is required. </li> <li> Demonstrated expertise in <strong>Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting</strong> is mandatory. </li> <li> Strong knowledge of construction accounting, job costing, percentage-of-completion accounting, and project financial management. </li> <li> Experience preparing financial statements and managing the full accounting cycle. </li> <li> Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. </li> <li> Experience with <strong>Sage</strong>, <strong>Jonas Construction Software</strong>, or <strong>Procore</strong> is considered a strong asset. </li> <li> Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills. </li> <li> Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across operations and finance. </li> </ul> <p>Preferred Experience</p> <ul> <li> WIP reporting and project revenue recognition. </li> <li> Job costing and project accounting. </li> <li> Budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management. </li> <li> Construction lending draws and project financing. </li> <li> Internal controls and process improvements. </li> <li> Audit coordination and year-end financial reporting. </li> <li> Team leadership and staff development. </li> </ul> <p>What You'll Bring</p> <ul> <li> A hand- Location Windsor, ON
