Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: At heights. Confined spaces. Noisy. Outdoors. Tasks: Complete and maintain station records, logs and reports. Analyze and record instrument readings and equipment malfunction. Assist during routine systems testing. Assist in locating and isolating system problems. Assist in the development of operation, maintenance and safety procedures. Investigate problems to fix or make minor repair. Maintain daily log of operation, maintenance and safety activities. Monitor and inspect plant equipment and systems to detect equipment malfunctioning and to ensure plant systems are operating normally. Operate automated or computerized control systems. Regulate and co-ordinate transmission loads, frequency and line voltage. Start up and shut down power plant equipment. Perform preventive maintenance. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance work. Operate heavy equipment. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Power System Trade Certification. Power Systems/Stations Operators Trade Certification. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Welding techniques: Boilers. Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports. Types of systems: Kilns.
