With a customer-first mindset, we make doing business with McCain easy. About the role.Reporting to the Director of Platform Engineering, Data AI & Analytics, the Data Engineer Manager leads a team of Data Engineers while remaining hands-on in the delivery of scalable, high-quality data solutions. This role is pivotal to McCain’s global digital transformation, enabling reliable, performant, and trusted data across Agriculture, Manufacturing, and Commercial domains. The Data Engineer Manager collaborates closely with data architects, analytics teams, and business stakeholders to drive enterprise-wide, data-driven decision-making. What you’ll be doing.Lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable data pipelines and data assets across enterprise systemsProvide hands-on technical leadership, coaching, and daily direction to Data EngineersOwn end-to-end data ingestion and delivery, including pipeline architecture, development, maintenance, and infrastructure supportEnsure efficient ELT processes to move and transform data within the Enterprise Data PlatformPartner with Data Architects to define and optimize data models, schemas, and database designsCollaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into actionable solutionsEstablish and maintain documentation standards to support Data-as-a-Service and knowledge sharingLead code reviews, mentor engineers, and promote engineering best practicesDrive automation, CI/CD, and DevOps practices to enhance scalability, reliability, and deployment efficiencyContinuously evaluate emerging technologies and implement improvements across data platforms What you’ll need to be successful.Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related fieldProven experience delivering end-to-end data engineering solutionsProficiency in languages such as Python, SQL, Java, Scala, Spark, or PySparkExperience with modern data platforms such as Databricks, Azure Synapse, Redshift, or similarStrong understanding of data modeling, database design, and data warehousing conceptsHands-on experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google CloudExperience leading or managing agile software development teamsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaborativelyExcellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholdersPreferred: advanced degree, cloud certifications, DevOps/CI-CD experience, exposure to AI/ML technologies, and significant leadership experience About the team.You will lead a team of Data Engineers within McCain’s Global Data, AI & Analytics organization.
