Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Various locations. Tasks: Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions. Professionalism in customer service. Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy. Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Air Brake (Z) Endorsement. Driver's License (Class 1 or A). Documentation knowledge: Bill of lading. Driver logbook. Type of trucking and equipment: Refrigerated. Tractor-trailer. Transportation/travel experience: Long-haul. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Driving record check (abstract).
