If no Primary Care Paramedic applicants, we will consider applications from Ambulance Operators/Attendants. We prioritize candidates based on their qualifications in the following order: Primary Care Paramedic, or Ambulance Operator/Attendant.If the competition is awarded to an Ambulance Operator/Attendant as the next highest classification, they will be awarded as Temporary Part-Time (TPT) for a period of one year, with possibility of extension. Job Summary:The Primary Care Paramedic (or Ambulance Operator/Attendant) works as an integral part of the paramedicine program. The successful candidate will work within their scope of practice, including responding to emergency and routine calls, providing skilled basic and advanced emergency care or assistance to persons suffering from a variety of injuries or illnesses. The successful applicant is responsible for maintaining professional and organizational standards of practice.The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.The successful applicant will report directly to the Manager of Emergency Services. The primary base for this service is located in Happy Valley-Goose Bay/Sheshatshiu, NL.Duties/Job Demands:The Primary Care Paramedic works as an active member of the health care team providing pre-hospital assessment and medical care to people with acute illnesses or injuries while maintaining a high standard of care to the patients. Work is performed with considerable independence and is reviewed through observation, examination of records and reports, and the presence or absence of valid complaints. The Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) functions as part of an interdisciplinary team within healthcare facility units and ensures client and staff safety, and other related duties as required.The Ambulance Operator/Attendant will be responsible for skilled work in the operation of ambulances in transporting patients while exercising care and skill in driving.
