This role offers a unique opportunity to lead critical infrastructure operations in a highly specialized Arctic environment.</p><h2>About Nasittuq</h2><p>Nasittuq Corporation provides essential operational support services to the <b>Department of National Defence (DND)</b> at CFS Alert. Our team plays a vital role in maintaining transportation, infrastructure, and power generation services that ensure uninterrupted station operations in Canada?s High Arctic.</p><h2>Work Location</h2><p><b>CFS Alert, Nunavut</b><br />Located on the northeastern tip of Ellesmere Island, CFS Alert offers a truly unique and challenging work environment surrounded by Arctic landscapes.</p><h2>The Role</h2><p>Reporting to the <b>Contract Site Manager</b>, the Power Plant Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation and maintenance of both the primary and standby diesel power plants.</p><h3>Key Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Supervise certified <b>Power Plant Technicians</b> and <b>Bulk Fuel Technicians</b></li><li>Plan, coordinate, and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities</li><li>Ensure compliance with safety, operational, and reporting requirements</li><li>Maintain continuous and uninterrupted power generation for station operations</li></ul><h2>Qualifications and Experience</h2><h3>Required Experience</h3><ul><li>Demonstrated experience operating power generation plants of <b>1500 kW or greater</b></li><li>Proven ability to plan, schedule, direct, and report on power plant operations and maintenance</li><li>Supervisory experience in operational and maintenance environments</li><li>Strong technical knowledge of diesel power plant systems and equipment</li></ul><h3>Required Trade Certification (one required)</h3><ul><li><b>Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic</b>, with appropriate certification and experience operating a diesel power plant (?1500 kW)<br /><b>OR</b></li><li><b>Industrial Electrician</b>, journeyperson certified, with experience operating diesel generator power plants (?1500 kW)<br /><b>OR</b></li><li><b>Electrical Generating Systems Technician</b>, with a minimum supervisory qualification and relevant experience</li></ul><h2>Skills and Competencies</h2><ul><li>Strong leadership, mentoring, and team-building abilities</li><li>Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills</li><li>Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and MS Project</li><li>High level of professionalism and commitment to safety</li></ul><h2>Compensation and Benefits</h2><ul><li><b>$27 per day isolation allowance</b> for every day worked on site</li><li><b>Fly-in / Fly-out rotation:</b> 8 weeks on site / 8 weeks off site</li><li><b>48-hour work weeks, Salaried compensation package</b></li><li>Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, disability, and life insurance</li><li><b>6% vacation pay</b> on every paycheque</li><li>Employer-matched <b>pension contributions up to 6%</b></li><li>Private accommodations and all meals provided while on site</li><li>Access to on-site recreational facilities</li></ul><h2>Nunavut Inuit Beneficiaries</h2><p>Nasittuq Corporation is committed to supporting <b>Nunavut Inuit participation, development, and employment equity</b>.</p><ul><li>Priority hiring for applicants enrolled under an <b>Inuit Nunangat Land Claims Agreement</b></li><li>Career development, apprenticeship, and training opportunities</li><li>Support through the security clearance process</li><li>Applications re- Location Iqaluit, NU
