Work is normally carried out at the Logistics Support Site (LSS) or Long Range Radar (LRR) kitchen, but the Chef may be called upon to travel and work in remote Arctic locations with exposure to severe outdoor winter weather conditions. </span></p><p><span>This position is covered under the provision of the collective agreement with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (I.B.E.W.) Local 2228.</span></p><p><span> </span></p><p><b><span>Key Responsibilities</span></b></p><ul><li><span>Plan, prepare and serve three (3) daily meals (buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner) in accordance with approved cycle menu, in sufficient quantities and quality</span></li><li><span>Develop menus that reflect site preferences and prepare dishes for those with food allergies or other dietary restrictions/preferences</span></li><li><span>Prepare baked goods and desserts from scratch</span></li><li><span>Provide service to various sites, requiring travel</span></li><li><span>Ensure safe and sanitary work environment; kitchen and dining room sanitization duties executing safe food storage and labelling of potential food allergy items</span></li><li><span>Menu /meal planning based on master schedule</span></li></ul><p><b><span>Qualifications</span></b></p><ul><li><span>Journeyman-level experience working in a restaurant, hotel, or cafeteria </span></li><li><span>Proven experience ordering and managing inventory</span></li><li><span>Strong oral and written communication skills</span></li><li><span>Excellent conflict resolution and interpersonal skills</span></li><li><span>Effective planning, organizing and time management skills, and effective decision-making skills</span></li><li><span>Ability to handle multiple priorities</span></li><li><span>Ability to work independently and as part of a team</span></li><li><span>Ability to work rotational schedule and travel as part of a small team to adjacent sites to perform Chef functions </span></li><li><span>Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), as required </span></li><li><span>Strict adherence to all safety policies, participation in required training, adherence to cold-weather/remote-site procedures and prompt reporting of hazards or incidents is a condition of employment</span></li></ul><p><b><span>Certificates(s)/License(s)</span></b></p><ul><li><span>Red Seal Interprovincial Journeyman status required</span></li><li><span>Safe Food Handling certification and WHMIS Certificate</span></li><li><span>Mu- Location Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL
