Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Various locations. Willing to relocate. Relocation costs covered by employer. Tasks: Calculate the cost of truck repairs and new parts if needed. Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions. Address customers' complaints or concerns. Coach colleagues on new methods or work techniques. Professionalism in customer service. Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy. Load and unload goods. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Air Brakes Endorsement. Class 5/5F/G Licence (cars, small trucks and other 2-axle vehicles). Driver's License (Class 1 or A). Documentation knowledge: Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip). Type of trucking and equipment: Dry bulk. Refrigerated. Straight truck (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles). Tractor-trailer. Communication systems experience: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment. Transportation/travel experience: Long-haul. National. Provincial/territorial. Security and safety: Valid passport. Basic security clearance. Criminal record check. Driving record check (abstract). Transportation/travel information: Willing to travel for extended periods. Willing to travel overnight. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Repetitive tasks. Sitting.
