Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Drafting and design technology/technician, general. Work site environment: Interior. Non-smoking. Air conditioned. Tasks: Read blueprints to determine work requirements . Develop and prepare design sketches. Consult with client, engineers or production specialists to establish product requirements. Review the graphic designer's instructions. Determine the medium best suited to produce the desired visual effect and the most appropriate vehicle for communication. Develop the graphic elements that meet the clients' objectives. Prepare sketches, layouts and graphic elements. Use existing photo and illustration banks and typography guides. Co-ordinate all aspects of production for print, audio-visual or electronic materials. Co-ordinate sub-contracting. Develop and produce realistic or representational sketches and final illustrations. Work in a multidisciplinary environment. Adapt existing illustrations. Type of drafting: Shop drawings. Detailing drafting. Presentation drawings. Computer and technology knowledge: Image editing software. MS Office. Adobe Illustrator. Corel Draw. Transportation/travel information: Own vehicle. Public transportation is available. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Work under pressure. Tight deadlines.
