Education: Bachelor's degree. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Office. Tasks: Plan and design buildings. Plan and design water and waste management systems. Conduct site visits to gather relevant information . Develop construction specifications and procedures. Ensure construction plans meet guidelines and specifications of building codes and other regulations. Evaluate and recommend appropriate building and construction materials. Prepare contract documents and review and evaluate tenders for construction projects. Supervise technicians, technologists and other engineers and review and approve designs, calculations and cost estimates. Offer mentoring. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. 3-4 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) by a provincial or territorial association. Computer and technology knowledge: Business intelligence. AutoCAD. MS Office. MS Excel. Construction specialization: Irrigation and drainage. Urban planning. Residential construction. Transportation specialization: Roads and highways. Municipal specialization: Sewers and sewage treatment. Storm drainage and control.
