Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Machine tool technology/machinist. Cabinetmaking and millwork. Work site environment: Noisy. Dusty. Work setting: Wood products manufacturer. Tasks: Set up, program and operate one or more computerized or manual woodworking machines. Fabricate or repair wooden parts for furniture, fixtures and other wood products. Operate gluing machines to glue pieces or wood together or press and affix wood veneer to wood surfaces. Operate preset special purpose woodworking machines to fabricate wood products. Read and interpret specifications or follow verbal instructions. Clean and lubricate machinery and equipment. Replace parts as required. Equipment and machinery experience: Computerized woodworking machine. Drills. Gluing machines. Planers. Routers. Sanders. Saws. Use computer numerical control (CNC) machines. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Repetitive tasks. Handling heavy loads. Physically demanding. Attention to detail. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Standing for extended periods. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Screening questions: Do you have experience working in this field?.
