We advocate for our members, ensuring their individual and collective rights are upheld in the workplace. We are currently seeking a Labour Relations Officer (LRO) to join our team!Position OverviewAs our Labour Relations Officer (LRO), you will play a pivotal role in providing a full spectrum of labour relations services to support our members. You will be responsible for advocating on behalf of members, interpreting collective agreements, handling grievances, and supporting our collective bargaining. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional with a passion for labour relations and advocacy.Key ResponsibilitiesMember Representation & Advocacy: Investigate concerns and complaints, providing advice and support while interpreting collective agreements, policies, and applicable legislation.Grievance Handling & Dispute Resolution: Initiate, negotiate, and settle grievances; prepare for and represent members at arbitration hearings and other formal proceedings.Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and maintain professional relationships with colleagues, members, employers, union representatives, and other key stakeholders.Collective Bargaining Support: Assist the Chief Negotiator and bargaining team in negotiations and bargaining processes.Legal & Policy Research: Stay informed on relevant labour laws, collective agreements, and industry best practices.Training & Mentorship: Facilitate workshops and mentor On-Site Representatives to enhance member engagement and workplace advocacy.Organizational Support: Provide expert advice to the AAHP on labour relations matters and represent the organization at employer, industry, or labour-related meetings, committees, or boards as my be requested.Qualifications & ExperienceEducation: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree specializing in labour relations, human resources, law, or a related discipline.Experience: Three to five years of relevant experience, preferably including at least two years in an advocacy or union environment interpreting and applying collective agreements.An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.Skills, Knowledge & CompetenciesStrong knowledge of labour legislation, regulations, and employee/employer relations.Experience interpreting and applying collective agreements and handling grievance processes, arbitrations, and dispute resolution.Excellent verbal and written communication, advocacy, and representation skills.Proven ability to counsel members on employment rights, conduct investigations, and prepare reports.Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to build effective relationships.Highly organized with strong time-management skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team.Demonstrated leadership, mentorship, and training abilities.Additional Requirements & InformationA commitment to union values and principles.A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for business use (periodic travel required).A satisfactory Criminal Records Check as a pre-condition of employment.This is a unionized position covered under the AAHP Staff Collective Agreement.AAHP promotes progressive workplace policies, work-life balance, and offers competitive compensation and benefits, including participation in the provincial public sector pension plan.How to ApplyTo apply, please submit your resume and cover letter in confidence to AAHP's Activing Executive Director at sdlugosch@aahp.nf.ca by August 31st , 2026.We thank all- Location Mount Pearl, NL
