Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: Noisy. Dusty. At heights. Confined spaces. Work setting: Installation. Various locations. Tasks: Select equipment for residential and small commercial construction. Measure and mark sheet metal according to template. Operate metalworking machines to cut, punch, drill, shape or straighten sheet metal. Cut materials using power tools or by hand. Assemble, erect and install hoisting and rigging equipment. Fit and join sheet metal parts. Install sheet metal products according to specifications and building codes. Apprenticeship training: Level three apprenticeship training. Welding techniques: Gas metal ARC (GMAW) (MIG). Shielded metal ARC (SMAW). Specialization or experience: Dust and fume collection system. Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system.
