Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Tasks: Compute dimensions and tolerances of machine parts. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables. Set up and adjust production machineries/tools. Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance. Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments. Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances. Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports. Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers). Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools. Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments. Enter codes specifying speed, feed and cut of the toolpath for computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools. Program CNC machine tools. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Machinist Trade Certification. Machinist Red Seal Endorsment. Computer and technology knowledge: Mastercam CAD/CAM. Equipment and machinery experience: Automatic lathes. Boring machines. Milling machines. Surface grinders. Tapping machines. Use computer numerical control (CNC) machines. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Public transportation is available. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Ability to work independently. Fast-paced environment.
