A sense of adventure, pride and fulfillment is built into every career at the FMI Group. *Overview Of The Position* A General Construction Labourer?s first responsibility is to perform duties in a safe and effective manner at all times, when using hand-tools, loading/unloading and delivery of supplies and materials, office and storage cleanup, assisting crews in field, errands to town, and any general duties that involve basic labour. *Responsibilities include:* * Take direction from Site Supervisors to perform various Labourer tasks * Operate hand and power tools of all types * Sorting materials * Load and unload building materials, machinery or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations, according to project plan or specifications * Clean and prepare construction site equipment * Fully comply with all safety regulations while on job site * Assist with waste management * Assist with Site Maintenance * Travel to town for pickup of personnel and supplies when requested * Assist with minor repairs to buildings at site if needed * Delivery of supplies & materials to various locations on site as instructed by supervisor _*The General Construction Labourer position is based at our Head Office & Shop in*_ _*Nanaimo, BC.*_ _*The position is Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm.*_ *Knowledge, Skills and Abilities* * Construction industry experience preferred * Construction industry qualifications and certifications including First Aid, mobile equipment, fall arrest, WHMIS would be an asset * Experienced Forklift Operator * Trades Experience and/or Electrical exposure is considered an asset * Valid Driver?s License & reliable transportation (abstract required) * Good understanding of construction principles and procedures * High level proficiency in operating power tools and using standard construction tools * Able to take direct instruction, perform tasks in a timely manner, be physically fit to move and carry heavy objects * Capable of working with minimal supervision * Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment Job Type: Full-time Pay: From $24.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week Benefits: * Company events * Dental care * Employee assistance program * Extended health care * On-site parking * Paid time off * Vision care Application question(s): * Are you based out of Nanaimo BC? * When are you available to start work? * What are your wage expectations?
