*About the position* Tristar Transport is looking for an experienced Freight Dispatcher to help source backhaul and spot-market freight for our fleet. The primary focus of this position is finding freight through broker relationships, load boards, direct industry contacts, and repeat freight opportunities. You will work closely with our operations team to anticipate where trucks will become empty, locate suitable loads, negotiate strong rates, and reduce empty kilometres. This is not strictly a driver-dispatch position. We are looking for someone who is commercially minded, confident on the phone, strong with numbers, and able to determine whether a load works both operationally and financially. _*Responsibilities*_ * Find and book backhaul loads using load boards and broker relationships * Contact brokers and develop repeat freight opportunities * Negotiate freight rates and accessorial charges * Match loads with available trucks, equipment, driver hours, and schedules * Check broker credit and review rate confirmations * Track broker contacts, rates, lanes, and booked loads * Coordinate load details with dispatch and drivers _*What we?re looking for*_ * Experience in trucking dispatch, freight brokerage, carrier sales, or load planning * Experience personally finding and booking loads * Confidence negotiating rates with brokers * Familiarity with load boards such as Loadlink, DAT, or Truckstop * Strong communication, organization, and follow-through * Knowledge of Western Canadian trucking lanes *Flatbed, Super B, lumber, steel, cross-border, or Pacific Northwest experience is an asset.* _*What we offer*_ * Competitive salary * Performance-based bonus * Full-time, stable employment * Opportunity to directly influence fleet revenue and utilization * Established transportation company with a strong operations team Apply through Indeed with your résumé.
