*Position Summary* IGI is looking for a designated CPA to own the accounting close and cost accounting for our manufacturing entities. This is a hands-on technical role with a real seat at the table: you will close the books, prove out the balance sheet, and keep our standard cost model honest ? and then turn around and explain to operating leadership why the P&L came out the way it did. The right person is equally comfortable posting a variance capitalization entry and standing in front of a plant manager to explain what drove an unfavorable purchase price variance. If you want a role where the numbers you produce are actually used to run the business, this is it. *Key Responsibilities* *Month-End Close and Financial Reporting (Multi-Entity)* * Own and complete the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close for multiple legal entities, delivering to a firm close calendar. * Prepare and post all required journal entries ? accruals, prepaids, allocations, intercompany, payroll, depreciation, and adjusting entries ? with clear, audit-ready support. * Perform intercompany reconciliation and elimination, and support the consolidation of entity results. * Drive continuous improvement of the close: shorten cycle time, eliminate manual workarounds, and document what you standardize. * Be comfortable with foreign currency transaction accounting and translation *Balance Sheet Integrity* * Prepare all balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly basis, including cash, inventory, fixed assets, prepaids, accruals, and intercompany accounts. * Investigate and clear reconciling items promptly; escalate aged or unexplained differences rather than carrying them forward. * Maintain a complete, well-organized reconciliation binder that stands up to internal and external audit without rework. * Make capital versus expense determinations on relevant spend and maintain an accurate, up-to-date capex tracking schedule on a monthly basis. *Manufacturing and Cost Accounting* * Serve as the subject matter expert on standard cost accounting ? bills of material, routings, labor and overhead rates, and absorption. * Prepare all inventory revaluation entries and the capitalization of manufacturing variances (purchase price, material usage, labor, and overhead absorption) to inventory and cost of sales. * Analyze and explain production variances; partner with operations and supply chain to identify root causes and correct them at the source. * Support the annual standard cost roll and periodic rate updates; validate the accuracy of costed inventory. * Review inventory valuation, cycle count and physical inventory results, obsolescence and excess reserves, and lower-of-cost-or-market assessments. * Work confidently across differing units of measure (e.g., weight, volume, count) when reconciling inventory, production, and costing data, converting accurately between them as needed. *Business Partnership and P&L Commentary* * Provide monthly P&L commentary that explains the results of the businesses ? bridging actual to budget, forecast, and prior periods in language an operator can act on. * Translate gross margin movement into its drivers: volume, price, mix, material cost, and manufacturing performance. * Present findings to the Controller and business leadership, and follow through on the actions that come out of those conversations. * Support budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc analysis for the entities you own. *Internal Controls and Compliance* * Ensure controls are in place across the accounting cycle, and evaluate their design and operating effectiveness on an ongoing basis. * Document processes and control narratives; identify gaps, recommend remediation, and implement the fix. * Act as a primary contact for external auditors ? prepare schedules, respond to requests, and resolve findings. * Ensure accounting treatment complies with ASPE and internal policy. *Indirect Tax* * Prepare all sales and use tax remittances and filings acro- Location Scarborough, ON
