Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Structural steel plant. Sheet metal fabrication shop. Metal products manufacturing company. Equipment operation. Tasks: Transport items throughout plant using powered equipment. Transport raw materials, finished products and equipment throughout plant manually . Assist structural steel and platework fitters, sheet metal workers, metal machine operators or other metal workers. Sort metal sheets and parts, scrap metal and other materials. Grind or chip excess metal from metal products using hand tools. Load and unload vehicle. Read and interpret work orders. Operate industrial trucks, tractors and other mobile equipment. Read blueprints and drawings. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Surface preparation methods: Sandblasters. Area of work experience: Metal cutting. Area of specialization: Welding. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Manual dexterity. Attention to detail. Standing for extended periods. Weight handling: Up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs). Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Personal suitability: Dependability. Excellent oral communication. Flexibility.
