Tasks: Inspect, measure and mark surfaces to be covered. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Measure, cut and fasten underlay and underpadding. Measure, cut and install carpeting on floors. Measure, cut and install resilient floor coverings. Prepare and install hardwood floors. Inspect and repair damaged floor coverings. Conduct moisture, ph, temperature and other tests prior to flooring installations. Prepare floors for installations. Remove existing floor coverings and contaminants. Employ knee kickers and other equipment to stretch carpeting. Perform direct glue-down carpet installations. Perform double-bond carpet installations. Install resilient stair components (special effects for the visually impaired). Equipment and machinery experience: Laser levelling/aligning. Installation specialization: Vinyl or resilient tiles. Vinyl or resilient sheets. Hardwood strip flooring. Flash covings. Hardwood intricate patterns flooring. Parquet flooring. Linoleum. Modular carpet tiles. Cork flooring. Carpets/rugs. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Own transportation. Willing to travel. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Handling heavy loads. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Ability to distinguish between colours. Hand-eye co-ordination.
