EMSL is seeking a <strong>Laboratory Assistant</strong> in Montreal, QC. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees. <br><br><strong>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</strong> <br><ul><li>Receive environmental samples and enter Chain of Custody into LIMS system</li><li>Review paperwork for all incoming samples to ensure completeness and correctness</li><li>Quality control of samples to ensure sample integrity</li><li>Transfer samples based on priority to appropriate custody locations</li><li>Coordinate and perform sample-related activities, including shipping and receiving, processing and administration</li><li>Generate reports, invoices, and enter data produced by analysts into the computer system for the production of the final, client ready report</li><li>Ensure the final report is prepared and that the results are reported to the client in a timely manner</li><li>Assist with internal and external client questions via phone, e-mail, and in person</li><li>Act as a liaison between clients and laboratory staff</li><li>Preparation and analysis of air samples for asbestos content using PCM (Phase Contrast Microscopy), and all ancillary quality control procedures</li><li>Determination of visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos material</li><li>Perform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual</li><li>Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed</li><li>Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager</li></ul> <br> <strong>Requirements:</strong><br><ul><li>High school diploma or GED equivalent</li><li>Authorization to work in Canada indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship</li><li>Some laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting is a plus</li><li>Bilingual in English and French</li><li>Experience in administration, data entry, and customer service</li><li>Proficient in MS Office</li><li>Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clientele</li><li>Ability to work in a high volume environment</li><li>Ability to stand and sit for various lengths of time</li><li>Ability to lift up to 25lbs.</li><li>Effective time management, organizational skills, and ability to multi- task and prioritize with minimal assistance</li></ul><br><strong>Available Shift: </strong><br>Position is full-time Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.<br>Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Saint Laurent are encouraged to apply. <br><br>EMSL Canada offers supplemental benefits and paid time off.
