Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Tasks: Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy. Load and unload goods. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Perform brake adjustments. Perform emergency roadside repairs. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Perform preventive maintenance. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Driver's License (Class 1 or A). Documentation knowledge: Driver logbook. Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip). Type of trucking and equipment: Refrigerated. Tractor-trailer. Communication systems experience: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment. Transportation/travel experience: International. Local. Long-haul. Provincial/territorial. Security and safety: Valid passport. Criminal record check. Drug test. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Willing to travel cross-border. Willing to travel overnight. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs). Up to 45 kg (100 lbs). Personal suitability: Team player. Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years. Green job: Involves duties and responsibilities that lead to positive environmental outcomes.
