Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Outdoors. All weather conditions. Work setting: Work in employer's/client's home. Urban area. Rural area. Various locations. Equipment operation. Construction. Tasks: Build models. Interpret blueprints or other instructions to plan methods or sequences of operation. Plan the incorporation of landscape structures. Read blueprints or other instructions to determine work requirements. Trim trees to achieve the desired pruning objective such as crown cleaning, thinning, raising, reduction, restoration, espalier pruning, vista pruning. Manage landscaping projects. Prepare conceptual designs. Survey and assess designated sites. Water and tend to plants, lawns and/or gardens. Apply fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides, pesticides and other lawn care products. Assess the health of lawns. Direct crews who maintain the health and appearance of golf courses and their surrounding landscapes. Examine trees and shrubs to diagnose problems and disease. Plan and co-ordinate the growth and use of plants for landscaping, ornamental uses and other purposes. Plant and maintain private and public lawns and gardens. Plant and move trees. Tree removal. Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites. Project management. Monitor safety conditions. Estimate costs and materials. Participate in staff meetings. Landscaping experience: Residential projects. Commercial and/or industrial construction. Area of work experience: Quality control and assurance. Landscaping. Area of specialization: Landscape construction. Plant knowledge and identification.
