Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work setting: Installation. Repair. Tasks: Manufacture and assemble in the factory the ducts for hot air heating, air conditioning and ventilation. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Select equipment for residential and small commercial construction. Measure and mark sheet metal according to template. Operate metalworking machines to cut, punch, drill, shape or straighten sheet metal. Inspect products to ensure quality and conformity to specification. Instruct apprentices. Supervise other workers. Cut materials using power tools or by hand. Fit and join sheet metal parts. Install sheet metal products according to specifications and building codes. Specialization or experience: Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Physically demanding. Attention to detail.
