Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Hog and pig farming. Hog management. Noisy. Odours. Livestock. Work setting: Rural area. Various locations. Tasks: Diagnose livestock health issues. Handling animals. Perform livestock feeding. Perform pig littering activities such as clipping needle teeth, docking tails, administering iron and other medication(s), identification of piglets, and castration. Treat livestock health issues. Weaning. Feed and tend animals. Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment. Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed. Maintain livestock performance records. Maintain quality control and production records. Select livestock for sale. Supervise and oversee breeding and other livestock-related programs. Perform general farm duties. Set and monitor water lines, air flow and temperature in barns, pens and chicken coops. Area of specialization: Swine. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding.
