Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Restaurant. Urban area. Willing to relocate. Ranks of chefs: Head chef. Tasks: Estimate amount and costs of supplies and food items. Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff. Create new recipes. Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff. Prepare and cook food on a regular basis, or for special guests or functions. Plan and direct food preparation and cooking activities of several restaurants. Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards. Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances. Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food. Participate in marketing plans and implementation. Ensure health and safety regulations are followed. Supervision: 5-10 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Food Safety Certificate. Area of work experience: Manager. Transportation/travel information: Public transportation is available. Develops and maintains relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses and organizations . Provides cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers . Support for mature workers: Applies hiring policies that discourage age discrimination . Provides staff with awareness training to create a welcoming work environment for mature workers . Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for mature workers .
