We are currently seeking a solicitor with a minimum of two years of experience to join our team. This is a full-time position starting in May 2025 or later.
The ideal candidate will have experience handling a broad range of solicitor-based matters, including real estate transactions, lending transactions, business sales, and wills and estates work. The ability to manage files independently while working collaboratively as part of a team is essential.
*Responsibilities:*
1. Represent clients in a variety of solicitor matters, including residential and commercial real estate transactions, lending and secured financing, business purchases and sales, and wills and estate planning and administration.
2. Draft, review, and manage a wide range of legal documents including purchase and sale agreements, loan and security documentation, shareholder and partnership agreements, wills, powers of attorney, and probate/estate applications.
3. Conduct due diligence for transactions, including title and off-title searches, corporate searches, and review of financial and legal documentation.
4. Manage files independently from intake through to closing or completion, ensuring attention to detail and compliance with deadlines.
5. Provide practical legal advice tailored to clients? needs, while identifying potential risks and offering strategic guidance.
6. Collaborate closely with clients, lenders, accountants, realtors, and other professionals to coordinate transactions and ensure smooth execution.
7. Stay current with relevant legislative and regulatory changes affecting solicitor practice areas.
8. Contribute to mentorship of junior staff and participate in firm initiatives, including business development activities.
*Qualifications:*
1. Minimum of two years? experience practicing as a solicitor in British Columbia.
2. Member in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia.
3. Demonstrated experience in handling real estate transactions, lending, business transactions, and/or wills and estates files.
4. Strong drafting skills and attention to detail in transactional and estate planning work.
5. Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to handle multiple files efficiently.
6. Effective communicator with strong client service orientation and problem-solving skills.
7. Able to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
8. Interest in contributing to the growth and development of the firm through mentorship or business development.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00-$130,000.00 per year
