Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Consider water saturation, light and temperature when planning for crop growth and development
  • Coordinate planting and cultivating activities
  • Handling animals
  • Implement soil fertility programs
  • Manage feed inventory activities
  • Mixing fertilizer
  • Monitor the calving process
  • Monitoring animal health
  • Organize planting, cultivating and crop harvesting activities
  • Prepare a clean, dry area for cows that are calving
  • Raise and breed livestock and poultry
  • Maintain farm machinery, equipment and buildings
  • Manage overall operation of farm
  • Purchase machinery, livestock, seed, feed and other supplies
  • Determine the amount and kinds of crops to be grown and livestock to be raised
  • Establish marketing programs
  • Maintain financial and production records
  • Perform general farm duties
  • Recruit, hire and supervise staff and/or volunteers
