Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Carpet, floor, and tile worker. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Odours. Dusty. Work setting: On-site customer service. Commercial. Residential. Various locations. Work in employer's/client's home. Tasks: Inspect, measure and mark surfaces to be covered. Measure, cut and fasten underlay and underpadding. Prepare flooring plans and scheduling. Measure, cut and install resilient floor coverings. Prepare and install hardwood floors. Inspect and repair damaged floor coverings. Conduct moisture, ph, temperature and other tests prior to flooring installations. Estimate costs and materials. Prepare floors for installations. Remove existing floor coverings and contaminants. Advise customers on work performed and condition of equipment. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Equipment and machinery experience: Saws. Nail guns. Installation specialization: Ceramic tiles. Hardwood strip flooring. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Personal suitability: Client focus.
