Job details
Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Tasks: Make minor adjustments and repairs to wood products. Assemble door panels, trusses or modular components to make prefabricated housing. Install hardware such as knobs and hinges. Inspect wood products for conformance to quality standards. Trim, smooth, and shape surfaces. Measure, cut, fit and install drywall sheets. Install vapour barriers and thermal and sound insulation. Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware. Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools. Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems. Equipment and machinery experience: Power tools. Small hand tool. Nail guns. Pneumatic devices. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Attention to detail. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Hand-eye co-ordination. Handling heavy loads. Manual dexterity. Physically demanding. Tight deadlines. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs). Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Personal suitability: Organized.
