Full-Time Support Staff, replacement position (#24-0703R2)
(First consideration for Support Staff and Academic positions will be given to internal applicants in accordance with the respective Collective Agreements.)
The Technologist assists faculty by managing the use of facilities and providing input on instructional plans for practical skills based on established learning objectives. Additionally, the Technologist demonstrates skills to students and provides remedial assistance for those students who require further assistance in mastering practical skills.
Successful candidates will be required to conduct work on-site five days per week, Monday to Friday, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Conestoga?s Skilled Trades Campus located at 25 Reuter Dr. in Cambridge.
The Technologist is employed for 11 months each year with an expected annual layoff of one month during the spring term.
*RESPONSIBILITIES:*
* Demonstrate the safe use of equipment and practical skills to students
* Provide remedial instruction to students requiring further assistance
* Set up, operate, and maintain a variety of machines and equipment
* Evaluate and order equipment and supplies
* Prepare purchase requisitions for student supplies and equipment
* Maintain inventory of program supplies and operating equipment
* Liaise with suppliers and vendors to procure equipment and equipment donations
* Perform minor repairs on equipment or coordinate with outside contractors for shop or equipment repairs
* Provide input to faculty regarding instruction plans around practical skills based on the established learning outcomes
* Provide input on course content and set up of programs
* Provide guidance to part-time staff and Work Study students
* Maintain the facility
*QUALIFICATIONS:*
* Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic (313A), Residential Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic (313D), Sheet Metal Worker (308A), or Residential (Low Rise) Sheet Metal Installer (308R) certificate of qualification is required
* Gas Technician 2 (G.2) licence is an asset
* Electrician - Construction and Maintenance (309A) certificate of qualification is an asset
* Minimum of five years of relevant, practical experience is required
* Flexible and organized
* Computer literacy skills
* High degree of independent judgment and technical specialization
* Strong communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team
* Leadership and problem-solving skills
* Willing to upgrade knowledge, skills and abilities by taking courses, attending seminars, etc. to remain current in the field
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $42.56-$49.34 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
