*Job Overview*
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Truck Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently while adhering to all traffic laws and regulations. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to handle various types of freight.
*Responsibilities*
* Operate heavy trucks to transport goods in Vancouver Island area.
* Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance.
* Load and unload freight, ensuring proper handling and securing of cargo.
* Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery times.
* Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other team members regarding delivery schedules and any issues that arise during transport.
* Adhere to all local, state, and federal driving regulations.
* Manage routes efficiently to minimize delays and ensure timely deliveries.
* Ability to obtain a Dangerous Goods (DG) ticket
* Clean driver's abstract
*Skills*
* Proficiency in operating heavy equipment and commercial vehicles.
* Strong knowledge of freight handling procedures.
* Basic automotive repair skills for troubleshooting minor vehicle issues on the road.
* Experience operating forklifts for loading and unloading freight is a plus.
* Excellent communication skills to interact with clients, dispatchers, and team members effectively.
* Strong problem-solving abilities to address challenges that may arise during transportation.
* A valid commercial driver?s license (CDL) is required.
* 2+ years of experience
* Experience with dry vans, Reefer, Flat deck, Electric jacks, rail/tail gates
