Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: At heights. Confined spaces. Hot. Noisy. Work setting: Various locations. Industrial. Manufacture. Tasks: Operate manual or semi-automatic, fully automated welding equipment. Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals and processes. Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications. Operate brakes, shears and other metal shaping, straightening and bending machines. Fit, braze and torch-straighten metal. Determine weldability of materials. Operate hoisting and lifting equipment. Operate previously set-up welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts and products. Type of materials: Stainless steel. Welding techniques: Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) (TIG). Equipment and machinery experience: Soldering machine. Area of specialization: Custom fabrication. Machinery or equipment repair. Process piping. Transportation/travel information: Own vehicle. Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Manual dexterity. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Standing for extended periods. Overtime required. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs). Personal suitability: Efficient interpersonal skills. Excellent oral communication. Excellent written communication. Flexibility. Organized. Punctuality. Hardworking. Experience: 5 years or more.
