Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Tasks: Drive lighter, special purpose trucks. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Perform emergency roadside repairs. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Air Brakes Endorsement. Driver's License (Class 1 or A). Documentation knowledge: Driver logbook. Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip). Type of trucking and equipment: Flatbed. Straight truck (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles). Tow truck. Tractor-trailer. Security and safety: Driving record check (abstract). Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Willing to travel for extended periods. Willing to travel overnight. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Handling heavy loads. Physically demanding. Sitting. Fast-paced environment. Work under pressure. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs). Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Safety vest. Personal suitability: Flexibility. Judgement. Reliability. Team player. Patience. Screening questions: Are you available for shift or on-call work?. Experience: Will train.
