*PRIMARY FUNCTIONS*:
We are an established and reputable primary care veterinary hospital in Calgary (NW), looking for a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) at our NW Calgary location. This candidate will work with clinic staff to assume technical duties and care of patients, acting in a support role to veterinarians, as well as miscellaneous in-house duties.
*Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:*
* Effectively communicate relevant information to clients about patient care
* Monitor and assess patient status and in conjunction with the veterinarian?s patient care plan
* Surgical preparation and anesthetic monitoring¿ Technical sampling & analysis (blood work, urinalysis, positioning for radiographs, etc.)
* Maintenance of inventory and ensuring medical supplies are adequately stocked
* Sterilization and general maintenance of medical equipment
* General upkeep & cleaning of the work area when needed
* Act as an effective team member and maintaining a positive atmosphere in the workplace
*Qualifications and Experience:*
* Completion of a veterinary technician program from a recognized/accredited post-secondary institution
* Registration with the ABVMA
* Intermediate to advanced computer literacy would be considered an asset
* Excellent communication skills
* Good written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills
* Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities under limited supervision
* Employ problem-solving skills and analysis, and effectively communicate with veterinarians and support staff
* Strong service orientation
* Positive attitude
